Position Overview:

Senior Structural Engineer (Topsides) is a highly skilled professional responsible for designing, analyzing, and ensuring the structural integrity of the topside components of offshore platforms, such as FPSO and FLNG facilities. This role involves significant technical expertise, project coordination, and mentorship responsibilities. This role may require frequent travel to the US, Europe, and Asia.

The ideal candidate of the position will have a background in Offshore Oil & Gas Industry, experienced in Topsides Structural Engineering, including Topsides Concept Engineering for Conceptual/pre-FEED/FEED/EPC(I) projects being bid in the offshore area. This will include FPSO or FLNG facilities as well as other Fixed and Floating platforms/facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed designs for topside structures, including decks, modules, and support systems.
  • Conduct structural analysis using advanced software to assess load-bearing capacities and stability.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
  • Lead and manage structural engineering studies and projects, coordinating – as required – with other engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, piping).
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, and progress tracking.
  • Assist in resolving technical issues during the fabrication and installation phases.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and designers.
  • Review and approve the work of less experienced team members to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and solve technical problems encountered during project execution.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and technical discussions to ensure robust design solutions.
  • To answer general queries arising from clients, contractors or internal Company departments on structural aspects of the system design.
  • To prepare formal responses to comments from classification societies and clients on specifications and drawings.
  • Coordinate with fabrication and installation teams to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth execution of projects.
  • Prepare engineering reports, design calculations, technical specifications, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of design changes, decisions, and project milestones.
  • Ensure all documentation is complete and compliant with project requirements and quality management systems.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Prepare project schedules, budgets, and progress reports.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’ or Master degree in Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, Civil or a related field.
  • Professional engineering license (e.g., PE) or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., SACS, STAAD.Pro, ANSYS).
  • Extensive knowledge of structural engineering practices, principles, industry codes and standards (e.g., API, ISO, ABS, DNV) related to offshore engineering and topside structures.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on offshore topside structures.
  • Proven ability to handle complex design tasks independently and effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work with and to communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, clients.
  • Fluency in English
