About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Product Marketing Specialist to join our team in Europe. The Product Marketing Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing product marketing plans for BYD Europe’s new energy vehicle products, including conducting market analysis, defining target audiences, messaging, positioning, pricing and go-to-market strategies.

The European Product Department focuses on market, customer, policy, regulation research, and competitor analysis to develop a comprehensive product strategy that aligns with our vision and goals. We aim at creating an impactful European New Energy Vehicle portfolio that exceeds user and market expectations, while ensuring that all regulatory frameworks and business requirements are met.

As a member of the European Product Department, the Product Marketing Specialist will report directly to the Product Marketing Manager (Passenger Car).

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct market analysis: Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to understand the competitive landscape, market capacity, volume-pricing correlation and incentive policies of the European passenger car markets. Identify trends, challenges, and opportunities that may impact BYD Europe’s product marketing strategies.
  • Develop and improve the ideal customer profile and product positioning: Use market research data to develop and improve the customer profiles that accurately represent the target audience for BYD Europe’s passenger car products. Map out each step of the customer journey, identify pain points, and create messaging that addresses customer needs and expectations.
  • Oversee the strategic pricing for all our future vehicles, volume potential, product specification and offer structure.
  • Collect and analyze customer insights: Collect customer feedback through surveys, focus groups, and other research methods. Analyze the data to gain a deep understanding of customer needs, behaviors, and attitudes toward BYD Europe’s products. Use this information to provide structured product feedback and insights to the product research team.
  • Work closely with the product research team to refine and translate technological features into customer-oriented messages that resonate with the target user groups. Develop product messaging that highlights the unique benefits and features of BYD Europe’s new energy vehicle products.
  • Collaborate across multi-national/functions: Work closely and effectively with other departments, such as product management, PR & marketing, network development, and sales teams to build a cohesive and comprehensive product marketing strategy. Collaborate with multi-national teams to ensure consistency and alignment across all touchpoints.
  • Drive go-to-market strategy: Drive the go-to-market strategy for BYD Europe’s new energy vehicle products. Develop messaging and product positioning that create excitement, interest, and understanding of BYD passenger car products. Develop and execute operational campaigns that align with the overall product marketing strategy.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends: Stay up to date with industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes. Use this information to inform product marketing strategies and make data-driven decisions that drive business success.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in marketing, business management or relating field.
  • 3 years of experience in product marketing and product management in the automotive industry. Success in bringing products to new market would be considered as a plus.
  • Familiarity with automotive market analysis tools such as NCBS (New Car Buyers Survey), IHS (S&P Global), JATO, Sigma Milieus and other market analysis and customer segmentation tools.
  • Excellent oral / written communication skill in English is mandatory. Chinese and other European languages will be a plus.
  • Strong data collection and analytical skills, with the ability to extract and present critical insights.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across all technical teams and disciplines with people from a variety of international backgrounds.
  • Team player with a customer-centric, can-do, live-and-learn mindset.
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis.
